Yes.

Is this just fear mongering by our gov't ?.

There is NO particular food, vitamin, or supplement that will "protect" anyone from anything. In other words, there is no "silver bullet" or "Quick Fix." However, following the total Ten Step Health Plan to keep one's immune system working properly WILL keep a person free from EVERY disease.

It's impossible to differentiate the symptoms of regular flu from "Swine Flu."
